An empirical model for the peak parameters of the F- region viz. foF2 and hpF2 has been generated for a region covering 0-40 deg N around the 75 degE longitude zone. Monthly median data from fourteen ionosonde stations over the Indian subcontinent has been used, as well as data from a few neighbouring stations covering a period of twenty to forty years of observations per station prior to 1980 (Table 1). This model, due to its large data-base, shows considerable improvement over the existing global model viz. CCIR-340/1/ and is recommended for applications on the Indian subcontinent.
