The first visual version of the Nikolaev axial meridian circle (AMC) is
described, and the results of the determination of the horizontal
flexure (b = -0.22 arcsec + or - 0.08 arcsec) obtained in the laboratory
with the visual method are reported. Advantages of this AMC version over
the horizontal mirror meridian instrument of Pulkovo are described.
