We have used GALEX UV spectra obtained for the Chandra Deep Field South (CDFS) to study the extinction in a sample of bright galaxies. The photometric redshifts were obtained from the Classifying Objects Medium-Band Observations (COMBO) and the selected sample covers a redshift range between 0.02 and 0.3. The extracted spectra were compared with theoretical templates obtained from the Starburst99 population synthesis code. Two curves of extinction were applied to them in order to estimate the extinction of the selected galaxies.
