The astrometric and spectroscopic orbits of 31 o2 Cygni were studied to derive the distance, masses, and luminosities of the components. The theory of visual, astrometric, and spectroscopic orbital solutions is discussed and a rigorous method of combining such data while introducing no spurious accelerations is presented, as well as the data, computer programs, and reductions.
