The goal of our SIM Key Project is to detect planets of Saturn-Jupiter mass orbiting between 0.5 and 10 AU around young stars. We will observe between 100 and 150 stars with ages ranging between 1 million and 100 million years in well known star-forming regions. Since photospheric variations preclude detection of such planets via the radial velocity technique, SIM PlanetQuest offers perhaps the only ways to find planets close to the ice-line where gas giants are thought to form.
