A new approach is proposed allowing to obtain an approximate analytical
solution of the radiation transfer equation in a medium with strongly
anisotropic scattering. The results are compared with the numerical data
from calculations by Monte-Carlo, spherical harmonic and doubling
methods. The accuracy of the proposed simple method is demonstrated.
