An analytical solution is described for the heating of interstellar grains by an erupting supernova. Two cases are considered and the analytical solutions obtained are compared to the corresponding numerical solutions. Good agreement is found to exist between analytical and numerical solutions. It is concluded that such an analytical solution may be used to give an order of magnitude estimate of the infrared fluxes obtained due to the heating of interstellar grains by erupting supernovae.
