The spectrum of the Ap star HD 168733 (HR 6870) has been analyzed with the help of fully line-blanketed model atmospheres and modern oscillator strengths. The unusual nature of the abundances found by Little and Aller (1970) are generally confirmed but some of the difficulties which they encountered in the ionization balance now appear to be resolved by the use of state-of-the-art model atmospheres. The classification of this star among the late B chemically peculiar (CP) stars is not obvious. It is suggested that the hot, magnetic CP stars form a more heterogeneous group than previously thought.
