The amplification of Alfven waves in free (unlimited) shear flows is investigated. The initial magnetic field is assumed to be uniform and directed along the velocity of unperturbed flow. The shear present in the flow is assumed to be constant and perpendicular to the velocity itself. The amplification of Alfven waves is shown to have unusual character: it occurs in the limited time interval and is stronger when the initial magnetic field is smaller.
