Ambipolar diffusion is the mechanism believed to be responsible for the
loss of magnetic support in molecular cloud cores. This mechanism has
been studied extensively both analytically and numerically. We extend
here previous studies by considering the effect of a sheared component
to the magnetic field for a slab geometry.
