Take two of the deepest, sharpest, multi-color images of the faintest universe in visible light and ask a high school teacher what do they see? A statistics lesson! Galaxy Hunter is the newest addition to the Amazing Space educational activities collection. The challenge for users is to become an astronomer/space scientist and choose one of the Hubble Deep Field images to sample galaxies, investigate bias and assess variability. In doing this, students will measure the distribution of galaxy types in the Hubble Deep Fields. Students will compare the distributions for both fields and discover that irregular galaxies are the most common galaxy type in the early universe.
