Airborne scintillator measurements of variations in the content of several cosmic ray components with altitude and latitude are reported. The specific cosmic ray components measured were: total and hard cosmic rays; vertical and inclined rays in four directions; and directional and omnidirectional cosmic ray components. The contributions of nucleonic and shower cosmic rays, gamma-rays, charged particles, and slow muons to the cosmic ray background were also measured. The observed variations with altitude were compared with the theoretical calculations of Murakami (1979), and the results are given in graph. It is found that the measurements are considered to be in substantial agreement with the theoretical results.
