The ALPO Mercury section has received a few observations of the part of Mercury's surface that the MESSENGER spacecraft imaged during its first flyby. The observations are extremely high quality and they can be compared with the new MESSENGER images quite well. The purpose of this paper is to show that some of the features in the MESSENGER images can be seen in amateur's images of Mercury.
