The ratio of the equivalent widths (Wr) of FeII to MgII provide information about gas properties, such as ionization parameter and density, as well as galactic properties, such as star formation history. We present a study of the evolution of this ratio over a large fraction of cosmic history: 2.3-8.7 Gyrs of the age of the Universe. Our sample consists of 88 strong (Wr(2796)>0.3 Å) and 100 weak (Wr(2796)<0.3 Å) MgII absorbers, with redshifts 0.31 Å). Statistical tests confirm that the population of absorbers with low redshift (0.3
