These conference papers deal with recent observational and theoretical developments in cosmic-ray studies of relevance to the origin of cosmic rays, cosmogony, solar-terrestrial physics, and high-energy astrophysics. Specific topics include observations of superhigh-energy gamma rays from Cyg X-3 and the galactic plane, hard gamma radiation from the galactic center and the diffuse gamma-ray background, a measurement of the helium isotope abundance in primary cosmic rays, theoretical calculations of the abundance of K-capture isotopes in galactic cosmic rays, the lack of effective galactic-cosmic-ray modulation during the ice age, modeling of differential galactic-cosmic-ray spectra, the general magnetic field of the sun as a source of cosmic-ray modulation, and absolute spectra of flare-related solar cosmic rays. Other contributions discuss cause-and-effect relations between solar activity and various high-energy phenomena in the solar system, several models of particle acceleration by shock waves in interplanetary space, variations in atmospheric albedo-particle fluxes, and cosmic-ray intensity variations during specific solar cycles.
