Grating Spectrographs: Optical Design

Scientific paper

The authors consider the optical design of the all-reflective type for medium and low resolution spectroscopy, as is usually used for high resolution. The presently described Marly spectrographs of the Haute-Provence and Nanjing observatories have dispersions of 4 and 8 nm/mm in the first order. An aspherization technique of making reflective diffraction gratings was developed. The Marly spectrographs are very compact anastigmats and have achromatic flat fields.
