The majority of this session will engage participants in the group activities to experience the Virtual Design Center process. First, a couple of invited participants will briefly introduce their astronomy data that participants may use for the activities. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own data (e.g., a poster of a presentation) for the activities. As a group, participants will align learner-instructor needs and one of the main astronomy topics with their (or the presented) astronomy research. They then will modify the research question into a student inquiry question and devise the assessment method to evaluate students’ learning. Each group will present its work to the rest of the participants. A discussion of how the Virtual Design Center could better support participants’ teaching practice will follow.
