The observation in the Cosmic Radiation of particles with energy above 1019 eV requires detectors of very wide extension. An adequate solution can be the exploitation of the UV fluorescence induced by the ionizing radiation produced by the interaction of the primary Cosmic Ray in the Earth atmosphere. This property has been successfully used for ground observation of Extensive Air Showers but with a severe limitation if the primary energy is above 1020 eV; in this case the flux involved is extremely low (~1 particle/year 100km^2 sr). The goal of AIRWATCH from SPACE is to extend as much as possible the target area making use of a satellite with a wide-angle optics (+- 30 deg) looking down toward the Earth (nightlight) from an orbital distance of 500-600 Km, so allowing an effective area of the order of 1 Million Km^2. The sensitivity of the experiment has been studied via Montecarlo simulation.
