A campaign over Venice lagoon is being promoted with the cooperation of JPL-NASA and some CNR Institutes (IIA-LARA, IMAAA, ISDGM, ITS) and aims at evaluating the spaceborne high resolution Hyperion and ALI data, by integrating them with hyperspectral airborne data for application in fields such as urban mapping, water pollution and ocean biogeochemistry and crop analysis. The Venice Lagoon was chosen as test site since it is representative of both dense urban environment, polluted lagoon and open ocean off-shore and the presence of extensive agricultural fields. This area was selected also because the ISDGM keeps the "Acqua Alta" Platform operating at 15 km from Venice which is used as a SeaWiFS calibration site. The research project includes the contemporary acquisition of EO-1, Landsat THEMATIC MAPPER and ASTER data and analysis, as well as the simultaneous acquisition of the airborne MIVIS (Multispectral Infrared Visible Imaging Spectromer) data. The data acquisition campaign over the Venice test site is a remarkable test bench for researchers involved in simulating the SPECTRA data sets.
