Through funding from the Astrophysics Grant Supplements for Education Program (AGSE), Project Outer Limits was conducted at Montlake Elementary School (a diverse K-5 elementary with 250 students that is close to the University of Washington) during the 91/92 and 92/93 academic years. With equipment purchases, teacher training and field trips for the students, faculty members at U of W introduced the idea of science as an active means of discovery by building on the students' natural curiosity about Astronomy. The successful aspects (planetarium visits and telescope viewing by the students) and difficulties (independent leadership by teachers with no science training) will be discussed. This work was supported by NASA grant NAGW-2784
