We compare the location of hard X-ray selected AGN on the color-magnitude diagram at redshifts 0 and 1. In the local universe we use a Swift BAT-selected sample of AGNs and imaging data from SDSS DR6 to study the host galaxy optical properties. For z=1 we take the AGN sample from Chandra X-ray sources in the MUSYC/Extended Chandra Deep Field South region and use the MUSYC optical data, including deep medium-band imaging with Subaru, to characterize the host galaxies. At z0, AGN host galaxy colors peak in the green valley, while at z1 the host galaxy colors are distributed more widely across the green valley and into the red sequence. Fitting the optical/IR SEDs of the host galaxies to obtain galaxy masses and stellar properties, we discuss the evolution of AGN host galaxies from z1 to 0.
