X-ray source detection in the HQS field HS 47.5/22 is finished both on the individual pointings forming the survey and on the merged data. The net exposure time in the merged data is ≥8000 s over 60% of the area. Some X-ray sources, however, are found in the much shorter individual pointings only. Optical follow-up observations have been made and 48 AGN could be identified. Their parameters are presented and compared with the optically selected quasar sample from the same field. Variability was studied if possible. More than half of the investigated sources turned out to be variable on various timescales.
