There is strong observational evidence that the intergalactic medium in galaxy groups has been strongly influenced by jets from AGN. Accounting for the observed properties of the hot gas in dynamically evolved groups requires a source on non-gravitational heating. We present evidence suggesting that additional heating is required to understand the evolution of the gas content of groups and present radio continuum observations that reveal extended low frequency emission that is suggestive of AGN heating occuring in groups in the nearby Universe.
