We observed the CSO 4C31.04 with VLBI at 5 GHz in 1995 and 2000. An expansion of the source is apparent between the two epochs. Results of the modelfit indicate an average hot spot velocity of (0.43+/-0.08) h50-1c, yielding an estimated age of ~550 years (assuming uniform velocity). A study of the spectral index distribution between 1.6 and 5 GHz suggest a larger age (3000-5000 yrs), however still in agreement with the youngness of the source.
