We calculate the strength of secondary gamma-ray signals that could be produced by positron annihilation in a medium surrounding a gamma-ray burster. We predict that such signals should be observable for a fairly wide range of conditions of this medium for bursts at both Galactic and cosmological distances. Furthermore, the time behavior of such signals together with the redshift measurement could be used to determine the distance scale to bursters.
