The Capitol College Space Operations Institute (SOI), through a cooperative agreement with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, provides undergraduate students real-world learning experiences to enhance their careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines. This poster session highlights the current NASA-Capitol College relationship through the SOI and future opportunities in advancing the goals of improving science literacy, while simultaneously encouraging students to enter the STEM workforce. Examples include student learning experiences with the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), a satellite operated by the SOI at the Goddard Space Flight Center. The SOI is also designing and building an upgraded ground system for the TRMM mission and will become the back-up control center for the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mission.
