Precise knowledge of nuclear cross sections at stellar energies are of importance for cosmology as well as for particle astrophysics. Measuring these cross sections at the relevant energies is quite challenging not only for the extremely low cross sections involved but also because a number of parameters like stopping powers, electron screening and angle straggling are not well known at low energies. The LUNA-Collaboration has installed two accelerators in the underground laboratories of the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) in Italy. Because of the reduced background from cosmic ray interactions in the detectors this facility provides a unique opportunity to study nuclear reactions with astrophysical relevance at energies at or close to stellar energies. Also the questions of electron screening and stopping power can be addressed. .
