The application of advanced computing to follow the collisions of spiral
galaxies, to model the evolution of a star cluster, and to study
three-body interactions is addressed. Pattern recognition in these
numerical simulations is discussed. Prospects for improving the
effectiveness of these kinds of computations are considered.
