Consideration is given to a heterodyne detection system developed for an infrared stellar interferometer. After a brief survey of the effects of wavefront distortions on the efficiency of heterodyning, the paper describes a process which makes it possible to display on an oscillograph screen the infrared phase differences at each point of the detector entrance pupil.
