The ring structures observed in normal galaxies may have been produced
by shock waves generated by recurrent activity in the nucleus of the
galaxy. The characteristic features of the ring structures would reflect
the nucleus activity parameters (energy, periodicity) as well as the gas
distribution law in the central region of the galaxy.
