A list of congresses and conferences in which the Institute actively participated is given. An IBM/360-44 computer was installed in May. Work was continued for the International YearBook: Apparent Places of Fundamental Stars. Other scientific work included deriving a new fundamental reference coordinate system and astronomical constants, preparation of material for Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts, investigating astronomical principles for the calendar, and studies of celestial mechanics, small planets, star clusters, and nearly stars.
