A complete sample of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) in the western portion of the Perseus Supercluster consisting of LINERs and Seyferts were examined. One theory suggests that AGNs have small, powerful energy sources at their center, usually attributed to a supermassive black hole. The “unified model” theory suggests that AGNs have an underlying unity, but dust obscures the nuclei more in some types. LINERs should have more of this dust that Seyferts. The supermassive black holes can be associated with tidal shocks, irregularities in morphology, and turmoil in the galaxy, which should be more evident in Seyferts. The shape of the galaxy also might affect its level of activity and many might have companions. Eight Seyfert galaxies (Type 1.8 and 2) and 26 LINERs were studied. The pictures were taken at the UNM Capilla Peak Observatory located in the Manzano Mountains. I found that the Seyfert galaxies have 1) earlier morphological types 2) more peculiarities 3) extra companions 4) smaller inclinations 5) more starlike nuclei and 6) more bar structures than the LINERs. These results generally agree with other observational studies and support the basic black hole and the unified model.
