It is no longer in much dispute that the formation and evolution of the black hole population is closely linked to that of the galaxy population. Most bulge-dominated massive galaxies in the nearby universe probably went through an active quasar phase. Understanding of this relationship between the quasar and galaxy population is proving elusive, however. It is important to characterize the quasar host population over a range of redshifts and a range of quasar luminosities. We will present here ACS imaging of the hosts of a sample of moderate luminosity quasar hosts at z = 1, which provide a good comparison sample to our earlier study of the hosts of high redshift, low-luminosity quasars.`
