The Wide Field Channel (WFC) of the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) on board the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was successfully repaired on 16 May 2009 during Servicing Mission 4. Here we present an overview of the performance characteristics of ACS/WFC derived from a series of programs executed during the Servicing Mission Observatory Verification (SMOV) phase. More detailed analyses of the SMOV results are presented in separate posters.
Overall, the performance of the WFC CCDs under command of the replacement CCD Electronics Box (CEB-R) matches or exceeds that of the old CEB in terms of read noise, linearity, pixel full-well depth, and amplifier cross-talk. The WFC's dark current, hot-pixel fraction, and charge-transfer efficiency (CTE) have degraded, but only to the levels expected after 28 more months of exposure to the HST radiation environment since failure in January 2007.
