Planetariums usually have poor acoustics due to their domed ceilings. Brigham Young University recently built a planetarium that was also intended to serve as a classroom. Acoustical recommendations were requested and implemented in its construction in order to make it a suitable listening environment. The preliminary acoustical modeling, specialized materials, and results of acoustical measurements taken after construction are discussed to demonstrate how this objective was achieved.
