We give a partial positive answer to a conjecture of Tyurin (\cite {Tyu}).
Indeed we prove that on a general quintic hypersurface of $\Pj^4$ every
arithmetically Cohen--Macaulay rank 2 vector bundle is infinitesimally rigid.
