Laboratory data on the rate of photolytic polymerization of acetylene,
highly diluted with hydrogen, at the pressure range of the Jovian
stratosphere is presented. It is shown that this rate is sufficient to
maintain the stratospheric aerosol haze which was observed on Jupiter by
Smith et al (1977).
