This paper addresses the problem of accurately determining the orbit of a near-earth satellite using look-angle tracking data from a single ground station. It then considers the follow-on effect of predicting the orbit for periods of several months ahead. It is shown that, under agreeable circumstances, very 'high' accuracy can be obtained, and results are presented based on flight experience of the Infra-Red Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) which was launched in January 1983.
