We present Light Curves and Power Spectral Densities (PSD) for the high energy radiation (X-rays) resulting from a model of accretion onto a black hole which involves production of the radiation by inverse Comptonization of soft photons in an extended, non-uniform atmosphere surrounding the compact object. The model provides good fits to the observed light curves and PSD, provided that the density distribution of the Comptonizing medium is appropriately determined. We show that features in the PSDs have direct correspondence to properties of the atmosphere, indicating a size 10(10) cm. We propose that a combined spectral- temporal analysis of the data from these sources can in fact be used to determine their density structure.
