The problem of accretion by a gravitating object moving through an
ambient medium of thermal non-interacting particles of different masses
is considered. It is found that the accretion rate depends on the mass
of particles. The physical conditions in a medium which are suitable for
the approximation of the collisionless accretion are analyzed.
