A numerical solution is presented for the maximal accretion flow towards a stationary Galaxy from the intergalactic gas. The galactic gravitational field is represented by a realistic model, and the accretion is assumed to be maximal in the sense that the effect of galactic internal pressure is ignored. It is shown that it is essential not to ignore the internal pressure if various observational constraints are to be satisfied. The results imply an increase in the estimate for the mean density of the Universe.
