We present a study of a sample of T Tauri stars in the Orion Nebula cluster using spectra in the optical range obtained with the Hydra Spectrometer on the 4 m V.M. Blanco Telescope at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. We fit a model to each spectrum consisting of a standard star spectrum (obtained previously) and the spectrum of hydrogen in LTE meant to represent the heated photosphere resulting from shocks at the base of the accretion column. This boundary layer is partially optically thin and is used to fit the Balmer jump and high lying Balmer emission lines in the observed spectra. These models are used to calculate values for the reddening, radius, luminosity, and accretion rate for each star in the sample. These values can be used to test theories of magnetospheric accretion. We will compare the results from this study to those from a study of T Tauri stars in NGC 2264. This research is supported in part by grant NNG06GD85G to Rice University from the NASA Origins of Solar Systems program and by the RUSP program at Rice University.
