Using a three-dimensional numerical scheme, the accretion by a compact object from an inhomogeneous medium is studied for the case of isothermal flow, and the pressure effects are included in the calculation. Mass and angular-momentum accretion rates are determined, and good agreement is found between mass accretion rates and the predictions of Bondi-Hoyle theory (1944). The rate of accretion of angular momentum is found to be only a small fraction of the rate at which angular momentum is deposited onto the accretion cylindar, in agreement with previous results.
