A formation scenario for the stringlike large-scale structure of the universe is considered. The main physical mechanism here is matter accretion in the wake of a rapidly moving massive body (previously formed galaxy clusters or almost symmetric loops). Estimates are presented which suggest that, owing to a developing gravitational instability, the wake of the loop breaks into blobs with masses approaching those of galaxies. Long-wave perturbations lead to the formation of protoclusters from these blobs of matter.
