We propose to observe the luminous X-ray binary Circinus~X-1 for 75 ks in CC-mode at zero orbital phase using the High-Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer (HETGS). We will determine the fine structure of P Cygni line profiles to diagnose the accretion disk. We also apply the method of reverberation mapping to the variable absorption and emission components. This work is the continuation of a project that has already involved five previous very successful observations, including the discovery of the first P Cygni lines in an X-ray source.
