The possibility of ion acceleration up to relativistic energies at the front of a magnetoacoustic shock wave with an isomagnetic discontinuity is demonstrated in principle, with reference to the resonance method of particle acceleration. The process of ion acceleralion is investigated; the conditions under which the capture of particles takes place are considered, and the number of the accelerated captured particles is estimated. As an application of the results, it is shown that the acceleration of protons captured in the isomagnetic discontinuity of a magnetoacoustic shock wave propagating within the atmosphere of the sun up to the energies of 1-10 GeV is quite realistic.
