The problem of heavy-ion acceleration by a shock wave is considered, taking ionization and recombination processes into account. The stationary particle spectra have singularities near the injection energy E sub 0; the detection of these particles can help determine E sub 0. The proposed model can explain the fact that He(+) spectra are steeper than He(2+) spectra. The parameters of charge distribution functions of heavy elements which have a Gaussian shape are determined. The results are of interest in connection with the generation of galactic cosmic rays.
