The Ferim-Dirac factor found in the response function for an accelerated
monopole detector of a massless field in an odd number of spacetime
dimensions is shown to arise from the integration over all the modes to
which the detector is sensitive. Each mode is populated by a
Bose-Einstein factor as expected for a scalar field.
