The main object of this paper is to discuss the fate of the scattering and multiple scattering resonances found in previous studies of the scattering cross sections for one, and a bundle of, slender magnetic flux tube(s), when wave-leakage is present. In the first part of this paper we obtain insight on the absorption and scattering of p-modes by one slender magnetic flux tube. In this first approach we neglect the stratification of the solar interior and confine the p-modes in an artificial uniform cavity by introducing two reflecting boundaries at z=0 and z=-L. However, the flux tube is assumed to be open at z=-L, and hence, wave energy can leak out of the cavity via the magnetic flux tube. A first remarkable result is that the scattering resonances found in the corresponding closed model are absent. On the other hand, the characteristic sausage and kink speeds of the magnetic tube manifest themselves in the conditions for zero-absorption by sausage and kink oscillations of the tube, respectively. Another consequence of the open flux tube boundary is mode mixing. Mode mixing turns out to be very weak for the slender magnetic flux tube. In the second part of the paper we replace the magnetic flux tube by a bundle of thin flux tubes in order to find out whether multiple scattering resonances can survive the wave leakage along the magnetic tubes. We find that the multiple scattering resonances found in the scattering cross sections for the corresponding fully closed model cannot be recovered in our model. Finally, we point out that when stratification is taken into account, the results for the scattering cross sections probably do not change qualitatively, although this is not a closed subject.
