A comparison is made between the absorption and emission profiles for a nonlinear problem of radiative transfer. Emphasis is placed on the differences between the profiles of the absorption and emission coefficients due to the deviation of the velocity distribution of the atoms from the Maxwellian distribution. Numerical results are given for Doppler line broadening.
